Marseille with the family: My tips and must-dos for a successful day.

Dec 18, 2024 | Marseille

Marseille is one of the must-see addresses when visiting Provence. But like all big cities, it has its own rhythm, sounds and flavors. I recommend this destination with children who aren't very young.
Because Marseille isn't something you visit, it's something you experience.

How do I get to Marseille from La Roucoulade?

If you're staying at La Roucoulade, I highly recommend you take the train to Marseille. It's the easiest, quickest and most comfortable way to avoid traffic jams and the sometimes... legendary behavior of the Marseillais.

Two practical options:

  • From Aix TGV station(15-minute drive from La Roucoulade)
    • Take a TGV train for around €6 per person.
    • In just 10 minutes, you'll be at the Saint-Charles train station in downtown Marseille!
  • From Rognac station(20-minute drive from La Roucoulade)
    • Opt for a regional TER train. The journey takes a little longer (around 20-25 minutes), but it's an economical and accessible option.

Once you're at Gare Saint-Charles, you're in the heart of the city, with easy access to the Vieux-Port and public transport, or on foot to discover Marseille's treasures.
